——As a variant form of Green Tara, her mantra begins very similarly. But added to the play on the name of Tara are several words connected with long life and wellbeing.

作为绿度母的一种变体，白度母的咒语开始部分与绿度母是非常相似的，只是中间增加了几个与白度母有关的关于功德、长寿和智慧的词。

** 发音要点：     由于白度母咒语唱诵的乐曲基本都是藏语的，用梵语念诵咒语需要注意以下几点：除了 “ta” 和 “re” 的发音以外（参考前文《绿度母咒语》的发音 ），与藏语发音的区别还有三点需要特别注意：

1) “Jñāna/Jnana” 的发音应该是 “Gyana”，而非 “Jana”；     2) “Puṣṭiṃ/Pushtim” 中的 “sh” 音应该发出来，而藏语唱诵都没有发出来；     3) “Svāhā/Swaha” 发音是“司哇哈”或 “suaha”，而非藏语的“梭哈”或 “soha”。

———— * Mama — It means “mine” and indicates that you’d like to possess these qualities of long life, merit, wisdom, happiness, etc. You can of course choose to wish these qualities for someone else — perhaps for a teacher or for a loved one who is ill.   — “Mama” 可不是“妈妈”的意思，而是“我的”之意，表明你想拥有长寿、功德、智慧、幸福等福报。当然，你可以选择为其他人祈福——也许是为老师或生病的亲人，可以把这个词换成他们的名字。

* Āyuḥ/Ayuh — It is long life (“Ayur” as in Ayurvedic medicine).   — “Ayuh” 代表健康长寿，“Ayur” 是“阿育吠陀医学”的简写，根据梵语语法规则，“r”变成了送气化发音 “ḥ”。

* Puṇya/Punya — It means the merit that comes from living life ethically, and this merit is said to help one to live long and happily.   — “Punya” 意味着道德生活中的功德，这种功德据说可以帮助人长命百岁，幸福快乐。

* Jñāna/Jñana/Gyāna — Wisdom, knowledge.   — “Jñāna” 的意思是“智慧、知识”，但简化成 “Jnana” 是不准确的，发音也不正确。字母 “ñ”相当于 “ny”，“jñ” 连在一起发音为 “Gy”，故而 “Jñāna” 的正确发音是 “Gyāna”。在现代瑜伽中，已经用这个新词取代了古代经文中常用的 “Jñāna”，以避免发音上的困惑。因此，“Jñāna” 的正确简化词是 “Gyana”，而藏语中发音成 “Jana”（嘉那）是不准确的。

* Puṣṭiṃ/Pushtim — It means wealth, abundance, or increase.   — “Pushtim” 意思是财富、智慧等的富足和增长。）

* Puṇya & Jñāna/Gyāna are known as the Two Accumulations. In order to become enlightened we need to accumulate merit (that is, to develop positive qualities through living ethically and meditating) but we also need to develop wisdom through deep reflection. Wisdom cannot arise without a basis of merit, but merit alone is not enough for us to become enlightened, meaning that becoming a nicer person isn’t enough — we have also to look deeply into ourselves and the world around us and to see the impermanent and insubstantial nature of all things.   — “Punya” 和 “Jñana/Gyana” 是两种积累。为了觉悟，我们需要积累功德（佛教术语叫“资粮”，即通过道德生活和冥想来发展正面的品质），但也需要通过深刻的思考来提升智慧。没有功德作为基础，智慧不能获得提升，但功德本身对于觉悟也是不够的，这说明仅仅成为一个好人是不够的——我们还必须深入观察我们自己和周围的世界，看到所有事物的无常和虚无的本质。

* Kuru — It is a mythical land to the north of the Himalayas, which was said to be a land of long life and happiness (it may have been the original northern home of the Aryans). But here the word kuru is a verb form meaning “do it !” or “make it so !” With this “make it so !” we’re imploring White Tara for an increase in wisdom, merit, and long life so that we can gain enlightenment and help all sentient beings.   — “Kuru” 本意是喜马拉雅山北面的一片神秘土地，那里是雅利安人最早的家园。但这里这个词是动词形式，它的意思是 “do it !” 或 “make it so !”。在此意义下，我们祈求白度母增加智慧、功德和长寿，这样我们就能获得启发并帮助所有有情众生。

White Tara as the Mother of all Buddhas is known by the name Wish-fulfilling Wheel or Cintachakra. Another name for White Tara is Sita Tara (in Sanskrit Sita means pure or white). Long life and good health for oneself and others is sought through recitation of this mantra, thus making one’s life and particularly the spiritual journey meaningful.

White Tara contains the essence of Mother Tara – compassion. Also, in all images, White Tara is represented with seven eyes (hence the name of “Goddess of Seven Eyes”) – meaning her compassionate nature which sees the suffering in samsara.

White Tara (Sita Tara) is associated with long life, her compassion is mainly focused on offering protection against and during sickness and old age. Her mantra is often chanted with a particular person in mind. She’s another representation of compassion, and she’s pictured as being endowed with seven eyes (look at the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, and her forehead) to symbolize the watchfulness of the compassionate mind. Unlike Green Tara, White Tara has both legs folded in meditation (Green Tara is stepping down onto a lotus).

- Benefits:     White Tara is popular because it is known for giving a blessing for long life. For this reason, many practitioners receive an initiation into the White Tara and perform the appropriate practice when they become sick. She will come to their aid and save them from illness and death.

More benefits: serenity, wisdom and helps overcome spiritual obstacles. We can dedicate the benefits of chanting White Tara Mantra to someone by changing the word “MAMA” to the person’s name.

• 【 白度母咒语的变体及功能 】
上面的咒语只用到“白度母”的“增长功能” (increase)，其实，“白度母”还有其他很多功效强大的作用，并没有体现出来。“白度母”所代表的“白色”，在佛教中还具有“镇定和安抚功能”，这才是她最重要的功能。此外，她也同时具有“保护功能”。下面对她的咒语做一些扩展，可以让你真正体会到“白度母咒语”的强大效力。
1. 增长功能（mama ...... puṣṭiṃ/pushtim）
	【 样式：】Oṃ tāre tuttāre ture mama [......] puṣṭiṃ kuru svāhā.
可以在上述 “[......]” 中替换成你希望增长任何事物，使用相应的梵语名词（主格单数）即可，下面是一些名词的示例：
