[[Glossary]] |
* Amitābha/Amitabha — "infinite light" - amita (unmeasured, boundless, infinite) + ābha (splendour, light; colour, appearance, beauty - related to bha: light, lustre, splendour);阿弥陀佛,其名字具有“无量光、无限光明”等含义。 |
* Amitāyus/Amitayus — "Infinite Life", or immortality,无量寿,不朽。 * Hrīḥ/Hrih — Amitābha's bīja mantra, hrīḥ = ha + ra + ī + ḥ (visarga), which means compassion and love; — 是阿弥陀佛的种子字,意思是“舍”,代表慈悲和爱。 |
* Amṛta/Amrita — Deathless,永生、不死,本意是“甘露”; * Tejehara — Possibly a compound of “tejas” - sharp, bright, brilliant; and “hara” - bringing, bearing, wearing; so “tejehara” is probably something like the bearing brilliance;意思是“带来光明的事物”。 |
* Amaraṇi/Amarani — Probably comes from amaraṇa = not (a-) dying (maraṇa) – i.e. immortality;含义是“不朽”; * Jīvantaye/Jivantaye — “Jīva” means “living, existing”; “jīvanta” means "living" or "life, long lived”, it’s a synonym for “amaraṇa”. The suffix “-ye” is a faux dative case ending(与格); so “jīvantaye” means “to the one who lives long or forever”;含义是“献给或向长寿或不朽的那一位(佛)”; * amaraṇi-jīvantaye — Could read as “to the undying immortal”,即“向永生不朽的(佛)”。 |

[[Comment_en]] |
This is the sacred Tibetan mantra of Amitabha Buddha which protects you from dangers and bad fortune, and overcomes all obstacles and hindrances to your success. The mantra enhances your compassionate and loving nature, bringing blessings each time you recite the mantra. The name also means "he who possesses light without bound, he whose splendor is infinite". |
Amitabha/Amitābha (his name means infinite radiance or light) is an archetypal Buddha who is supremely important in Tibetan and Chinese Buddhism. He represents love and compassion, and he is often pictured as being the rich, warm and red color of the setting sun. |
Amitabha is the Buddha of the Western quarter. His special quality is Compassion, which is balanced in the Mandala of the Five Jinas by Akshobhya the Buddha of Wisdom. He dwells in his pureland called Sukhāvatī - the happy realm which is described in the "Pureland Scriptures". Amitabha is closely related to Amitayus - infinite life - who is sometimes described as his "reflex". |
The word Amideva which is used in Tibetan traditions is not as it would seem ‘undying god’, but is due to a Tibetan mispronunciation of Amitabha’s name. |
