* Bija/Beej Mantra — 种子咒。在印度，重要的神祗都有会有很多咒语，各具有不同的作用和功能。但他们都有一些特殊的咒语——“种子咒”，主要由神的名号和各种“种子字”组成，目的是通过各种“声音”激发的能量来强化这个神的作用（或者说，由其所代表的宇宙基本原则或法则）。

* Ganapati/Ganesha/Ganesh — The Remover of Obstacles and the God of Oneness/Unity；   — “象头神”的多个名字；在印度，他是作为“障碍的清除者”和“象征宇宙和谐完美的同一性和一致性”之神来崇拜的。

* Gam/Gum — Ganesha bija, removing all obstacles and promotes success；   — “象头神”的种子字，代表“消除障碍、助力成功”的能量，亦代表了上述的“宇宙同一性和一致性” (Oneness/Unity)；发音类似英语中的 “gum”，即 “/gəm/”。

* Ganapataye/Ganapatayei — “to Ganapati”； * “-ye/-yei” — A sound that activates shakti/energy；   — 语法上属于“与格”，意思是 “to，向”；另外，它也代表一种可以激发出 “shakti” 或能量的声音。

* namaḥ — 字母 “ḥ”的用法比较特殊，放在句子中间，发音为 “Namah”，最后的 “a”音只做“送气化”发音，正如在“湿婆”咒语中那样 (Om Namah Shivaya)；但放在句子的结尾，发音变成了 “Namaha”，这叫“回音化”发音，因此 “ḥ”又被称为“回音字母”。对于其他单词、其他元音（如：“bhuḥ”），情况完全类似。

This sound formula assists us in the removal of obstacles. In order for that to happen there is no need to know the exact nature of the hindrances. Just the awareness and recognition that there are obstacles and then chanting this mantra with the intention for resolve is enough. This mantra unifies us within. When there is oneness there are no obstacles.

This mantra is also used for the beginning of any endeavor. Whenever we start anything anew we can bless the project with the energy of Ganesh through this mantra. It not only removes all obstacles but also gives success in one's efforts.

The story of Ganesh is found in the chapter devoted to this principle. But for your immediate need, you need only know that for seen or unseen obstacles which seem to be standing in the way of your progress or achievement, either specifically or generally, this mantra has proved invaluable. It has been used it with great success not only in India, but here in the West dozens of people have related to me their success in turning things around in their life by using this mantra.

• 【 关于“象头神”坐骑——“小老鼠”的含义解读 】

在印度的“象头神”造像中，体形肥胖富态、惹人喜爱的 “Ganesha”，其胯下的坐骑居然是一只“小老鼠”，这似乎显得有点不太协调、不成比例。为什么选“老鼠”为坐骑？这其实是有特殊象征含义的。

“老鼠”是一种惹人讨厌的小动物，可以说在现实生活中，几乎没有人会喜欢“老鼠”（实验室里的“小白鼠”除外）。它不仅偷吃粮食、毁坏家具或建筑，长得也不招人喜欢，更要命的是它还会传播致命的疾病（如：鼠疫等等），所以中国人常说：“过街老鼠，人人喊打”，并以此来比喻不喜欢的人或事。除此之外，“老鼠”的繁殖力和生命力也非常顽强，自古以来，人们想尽办法来灭鼠，但无论如何也不能完全消灭老鼠。据说，现在世界上老鼠的数量远比人类的数量要多，这就说明了人类想要灭绝老鼠的“强烈愿望”是无法实现的，最多只能把它们的破坏性控制在一定程度以内。

以上说了这么多“老鼠”的特性，实际上，这些就是它成为 “Ganesha” 坐骑的原因。在这里，“老鼠”就象征了人们的“欲望”。“欲望”跟现实中的“老鼠”很像，它到处乱窜，不断滋生蔓延，永无餍足，如果不能加以控制，所到之处必定狼藉一片。人们不能任由心中不断滋生乱七八糟的“欲望”，否则必将成为“欲望”的奴隶，尤其是在当代这种“物欲横流”的时代（“欲望”就是“需求”，“需求”就是“鸡D屁”）。同样，人的“欲望”越多，遇到的麻烦和障碍也会越多，也会遭遇更多的痛苦和失败。

所以，学会控制“欲望”，学会识别哪些是合理的、哪些是不合理的“欲望”，对于个人的成功和幸福是非常重要的。“Ganesha” 坐骑——“老鼠”的象征意义就在于此，他不是消灭它，而是控制它、驾驭它。人要想消灭“欲望”，那是不可能的，否则人类社会也就不会存在了。我们能做的，只能是控制它、驾驭它，识别并维持合理的欲望。

那么该如何识别什么是“合理的欲望”呢？就像这个咒语所说的那样，把自己的内心与世界和宇宙的大道融合 (Oneness/Unity)，仔细聆听自己内心的呼唤和渴望，不要为外界的种种噪音和戾气所干扰。乱七八糟的“欲望”少了，自然障碍和烦恼就少了。做合乎内心、顺从自然大道之事，就像顺水行舟，当然就没有障碍了。如果非要逆水而上，自然是困难重重。所以，想要做到克服障碍，首先要从改变自己的行为和内心做起，正所谓：

——克服心魔，才能克服人生的各种障碍。
